Someone in Falls Church woke up rather wealthy this morning, and if you bought a Powerball ticket at the 7-Eleven at 201 S. Washington St., you should check your numbers.
A $1 million winning Powerball ticket was sold in Falls Church, NBC Washington is reporting.
This is the second time in 2012 someone has purchased a $1 million winner in Falls Church. On March 3, someone bought a $1 million winning ticket at the Sleepy Hollow Exxon, 6661 Arlington Blvd.
The winning ticket for the big jackpot - $337 million – was sold in Michigan. Other $1 million winning Powerball tickets were sold in Indiana (two tickets), Kansas, Kentucky, Nebraska, New Jersey, New Mexico and Pennsylvania.
The Virginia $1 million winning ticket was the only big winner sold in the commonwealth.
Earlier this week, the The Associated Press reported that Virginia Lottery expected to sell 1.1 million tickets before the winning numbers were announced.
"If someone’s ticket matches all six numbers, they could either take the full amount in 30 annual payments or a one-time cash option,” which would be more than the $203 million the lottery originally projected when the jackpot stood at $320 million, the AP reports.
The winning numbers were 6, 27, 46, 51, 56 and the Powerball was 21.
