Falls Church Voter Office Processed About 50 Applications Monday

Applications received by mail must be postmarked Oct. 15 to be processed.

Between absentee voters and people rushing to register before Monday’s deadline, the Office of Voter Registration and Elections in the City of Falls Church was pretty busy.

David Bjerke, general registrar for the city, said his office had about 50 voter registration applications to process. Bjerke said about half of those applications were from walk-ins;the others were mailed in.

A number of people who entered the office Monday were absentee voters.

“We had 29 in-person absentee voters,” Bjerke said. “Some of those were from teens home on fall break but not all of the voters were in that group.”

Bjerke said applications received by mail after Monday will be accepted as long as they are postmarked Oct. 15. Bjerke said about 9,300 people within city limits are registered to vote.
