Community Center Closure, and Register for Extended Day Care

Lace Up Your Running Shoes and Run for Falls Church Schools: Register for the Run for the Schools 5K Run/1 mile walk today. Proceeds from the race benefit the Falls Church City Public Schools and the Falls Church Education Foundation. The cost is $35 per participant and $5 for kids under age 12. The race takes place on Sept. 8. For more info, visit fcedf.org/runfortheschools.

Community Center Closes Beginning Saturday: The Falls Church Community Center will be closed for annual cleaning and maintenance from Saturday through Labor Day. From Aug. 24 to the 31st , the Community Center will be open only for individuals who wish to register for fall classes and activities. All other services, including the Senior Center, Teen Center, and Open Gym, will be unavailable. The Community Center will be completely closed on both Sunday, Sept. 1 and Monday, Sept. 2. Normal hours resume that Wednesday.

Register for Extended Day Care: The deadline to register for the Falls Church City Public Schools Extended Day Care Program has been extended to August 23 for new families. For new registration, visit fccps.org/daycare and click on the new families button. For more info, call 703-248-5682.

Sing! Sing! Sing!: The Encore Chorales invite singers age 55 and older to participate in its fall season. The chorales are part of the Encore Creativity for Older Adults program. There are 13 chorales across the D.C. metropolitan area. Rehearsals culminate in a performance at the Kennedy Center on Dec. 23. For more information, visit encorecreativity.org.
