Artists to Take the Town at FIRSTfriday Event; Full Schedule

Falls Church residents can enjoy artist exhibits throughout town at the monthly event on Sept. 6.

Fall may be setting in, but Falls Church residents still have an opportunity to get out and enjoy the nice weather while taking in some of the area’s finest artwork.

On Friday, Sept. 6, McEnearney Associates (formerly Fall Properties) will host artist Jude Connell as part of this month’s FIRSTfriday of Falls Church.

The celebration of the first Friday of every month features artist exhibits at different locations throughout Falls Church, including Connell’s exhibit at the McEnearney offices on N. West Street.

Restaurants and retail shops are offering discounts, and there will be lots of music wafting through the air.

Connell is a painter who uses vibrant colors to bring her photographs of nature to life on a canvas. She takes her photographs at sunrise or sunset to capture the beautiful blend of colors and affects in nature, then returns to the studio to reproduce her photographs with paint and an easel.

Connell’s artwork has been featured at the National Harbor, the Arlington Arts Center, the Mitre Gallery in McLean, the Workhouse Art Center in Lorton and the Torpedo Factory in Alexandria. Some of her works will be displayed on the walls of McEnEarney Associates offices this month.

The reception will be held from 5:30-7:30 p.m. and will include drinks and appetizers. Guests will be able to view some of Connell’s works and discuss them with her and fellow Falls Church residents.
