For the first time, the DC Chili Cookoff moved to Northern Virginia this year, and teams from all over, including Falls Church, competed over the weekend to see who could make the tastiest chili.
Teams of professional competitors and amateurs, small businesses or just groups of friends, lined Highland Street just south of the Clarendon Metro in Arlington, mixing up batches of chili for the event.
Samples were handed out for donations to charity or in hopes of positive word of mouth — the team with the most donations at the end of the day was named the People's Choice winner.

The DC Chili Cookoff, formerly held at RFK Stadium, featured four official categories — red chili, green chili, salsa and homestyle.
Winners will compete in the World Championship Chili Cookoff in October in Palm Springs, Calif.
