Fire Prevention Week Closes Out at Dunn Loring Station

Busy station is responsible for greater Tysons area and beyond.

Firehouses throughout Northern Virginia held open houses to mark the end of Fire Prevention Week.

At the Dunn Loring Volunteer Fire and Rescue Department, more than 300 people stopped by to meet firefighters, let their children play on the apparatus and sit through a safety seminar put on by some of the station’s staff.

“This is our day to engage with the public,” said department Chief Andrew Eastman. “Not only do we get the fire safety message out, we get to engage with the public.”

Eastman said the station, located at 2148 Gallows Rd., not only responds to fires in Merrifield, Tysons, Vienna, McLean and Dunn Loring, but they help staff other stations throughout Fairfax County during training or call outs. Eastman said the station relies on the community to help fund things.
