FIVE THINGS: Event for Toddlers at Falls Church Library

Recreation & Parks Advisory Board will meet at 7 p.m. Wednesday.

1. If you’re looking for something to do with your 2-year-old today, the Thomas Jefferson Library in Falls Church is hosting their “Time for Twos” at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday. Children will be entertained with stories, activities and songs.

2. Farm Day will go from 10 a.m. through 3 p.m. Oct. 6 at Cherry Hill Park. The event features blacksmith demonstrations, horse-drawn hayrides, pumpkin painting, scarecrow making, and a petting zoo. Children can learn basic farming skills such as corn shelling, beekeeping, and apple butter making. For more information, click here.

3. The City of Falls Church Recreation & Parks Advisory Board will meet at 7 p.m. Wednesday inside the Falls Church Community Center.

4. More than 200 City of Falls Church residents disposed of old and unused hazardous waste products at the Household Hazardous Waste Collection Event over the weekend. Residents wishing to dispose of household hazardous waste before the next event are encouraged to take items to the I-66 Transfer Station (4618 West Ox Road, Fairfax) 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Thursday through Saturday, or 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sundays.

5. If you are celebrating a birthday on Oct. 3, you share it with the 21st President of the United States, Chester A. Arthur, the late comedian Bernie Mac and one of the original Three Stooges, Larry Fine. Happy birthday!
