FIVE THINGS: FCCPS Teachers Are Ready to Return

Sunset Cinema continues this week.

1-    Falls Church City Public Schools will host their FCCSP Welcome Back Breakfast and Convocation starting with breakfast at 8 a.m. The program starts at 9 a.m. in the gymnasium.

2-    Volunteers who live in the City of Falls Church are needed to serve on boards and commissions. Contact the city clerk’s office (703-248-5014, cityclerk@fallschurchva.gov, or here for an application form or more information. Requests for appointments must also be made through the city clerk. Applications are being accepted until the end of the month.

3-    The Recreation and Parks Department is seeking volunteers to call bingo on  from 10 a.m. to noon Wednesdays at the Senior Center. Interested volunteers should call 703-248-5020 for more information and to sign up.

4-    The city will continue the ninth annual Sunset Cinema series this Thursday at 7. Families can come out for a free feature film. Moviegoers are invited to bring blankets, lawn chairs and picnics. Popcorn, candy and drinks will be available for purchase. For more information call 703-248-5027 (TTY 711).

5-    If you’re celebrating a birthday on Aug. 28, you share it with actor Jack Black, Olympic skater Scott Hamilton and country singer Leann Rimes. Happy birthday!
