Why Go: Donations at this free event will benefit the Daniel Pearl Foundation, which "promotes cross-cultural understanding through journalism, music and innovative communications."

Pricing: Admission is free. A $10-$15 donation is suggested.

Where/When: , 227 Maple Ave E, Vienna. Friday, 8 p.m.

Why Go: Four bands — weeded down from 24 at the beginning of the year — will be competing for top honors and $2,500 at the coffeehouse's band battle.

Pricing: Tickets are $10 in advance, $13 on the day of the event.

3. Disney on Ice presents "Princess Wishes"

Where/When: Verizon Center, 601 F St., NW, Washington. Wednesday, Feb. 16 through Monday, Feb. 21. Matinee and evening showtimes vary. Consult the Verizon Center's event calendar for more information.

Why Go: Disney princesses on ice — need we say more?

Pricing: Tickets range from $15 to $75.

Where/When: Artspace, 410 S Maple Ave, Falls Church. Saturday, 7:30 p.m.

Why Go: According to the event's website, "The Gamelan Wrhatnala of Germantown troupe is composed of elegant and exquisitely costumed dancers, and musicians playing the gamelan instruments, consisting of met allophones, drums, gongs, flutes, and cymbals."

Pricing: Adults, $15. Senior and students, $12. Children 12 and younger are free with a paying adult.

Where/When: George Mason University Fairfax Campus, 4400 University Dr., Fairfax. Friday, 8 p.m.

Why Go: According to the event's website, "The Virginia Opera brings Wagner’s epic masterpiece to the Center for the Arts...Wagner’s brilliant score includes 'Ride of the Valkyries,' one of the most famous and exhilarating pieces in the operatic literature, and the breathtaking finale leaves audiences speechless."

Pricing: Tickets range from $44 to $86. A limited number of discounted student tickets are also available.
