Friday the 13th did not bring good luck to any Mega Millions players —at least in terms of winning the $425 million jackpot—so the potential payout for the eventual big winner continues to climb.

After rolling over 21 times since the Oct. 4 drawing, the jackpot now stands at $550 million for Tuesday's drawing, according to lottery officials.

The half-billion-dollar prize is now the second largest in Mega Millions history and the fourth largest in U.S. history, according to a statement from the agency.

The multistage game is played in 45 states and jurisdictions across the country.
