National Weather Service Cancels Flood Watch for Falls Church

The National Weather Service has issued a Flood Watch Saturday for Falls Church.
The watch is in effect Saturday from 9 a.m. to midnight when forecasters expect the area to see moderate to heavy rain, with possible total rainfall of 1 to 2 inches.
Temperatures Saturday could reach 60 degrees and you may even hear a rumble of thunder in the afternoon, forecaster say.
The heaviest rain will occur Saturday afternoon, likely from 2-6 p.m., according to the Washington Post's Capital Weather Gang; this heavy rain combined with a frozen ground elevates the threat of flooding, NWS points out.
Streams and creeks may overflow their banks as a result of runoff from heavy rainfall. Urban areas, especially where there is poor drainage will be susceptible to minor flooding.
Those living in areas prone to flooding should prepare to take action, NWS warns.
