Police: Woman Sexually Assaulted in Merrifield

Second reported sexual assault in Merrifield since May

Fairfax County Police are looking for a man who allegedly sexually assaulted a woman Sunday night in Merrifield.

Officer Bud Walker, a police spokesperson, said the woman was walking along the 7600 block of Lee Highway when a knife-yielding man forced her into some nearby brush around 11 p.m. Walker would not say where the woman was going or if she was hospitalized.

The alleged suspect is described as a Hispanic man in his 30s with short black hair who was wearing a black T-shirt and jeans.

This is the second reported sexual assault since May reported in Merrifield.

, a 50-year-old woman was attacked by two men around 1 a.m. in the 2400 block of Gallows Road near the W&OD Trail. The woman was hospitalized after the attack.

Walker did not comment on the earlier attack.
