Powerball Jackpot Soars to $550M for Saturday Drawing

If you draw the Powerball winning numbers in Saturday's lottery, you could score $550 million, or a $350 million one-time payout.

After no one picked all five winning numbers and the Powerball, the new Powerball prize for the Saturday, May 19 drawing is an estimated $550 million—the third-largest Powerball prize in the history of the game.

Virginia is no stranger to Powerball winners. In addition to several $1 million winners, Dave and Nancy Honeywell of Fredericksburg took a $136 million cash payout in February of this year. A person from Christiansburg won $1 million in Wednesday night's drawing.

The one-time cash payout is estimated at $350.1 million. Tickets are $2 and the game is played in Virginia and 42 other states, including Florida, Texas, California and New York.

The largest Powerball Jackpot cash payout to date was $384 million and was won on Nov. 28, 2012, split between winners in Arizona and Missouri.
