Tinner Hill Blues Festival Kicks Off Friday at State Theatre

The festival celebrates its 20th anniversary in Falls Church.

Blues guitarist and singer John Hammond and Phil Wiggins kick off the 20th Annual Tinner Hill Blues Festival Friday night at 6 p.m. at The State Theatre. The festival will conclude Sunday with a blues brunch at Mad Fox Brewing Company.

Several musical acts will take the stage in Falls Church this weekend both at The State Theatre and in Cherry Hill Park Saturday starting at 9 a.m. According to the National Weather Service, there is a 40 percent chance there will be some storms left behind Saturday from Tropical Storm Andrea.

Started in 1994, the festival began as a tribute to the late John Jackson, Piedmont Blues icon and Smithsonian National Heritage Fellow.

The festival will feature Foxes Music Instrument Petting Zoo, mini guitar lessons, barbecue demonstrations, raffles and vendors.

  • Mary Ann Redmond, soulful rhythm and blues
  • Sheryl Warner and the Southside Homewreckers
  • The Acoustic Blues Women: Eleanor Ellis, Pearl Bailes, Gina DeSimone, Pat Quinn
