Top 5: The Week Ahead in Falls Church

1. Special meeting of the library board. The MRSPL Board of Trustees will hold a special meeting on Tuesday at 7 p.m. to receive an update about the Long Range Master Plan from consultants. Here is the Agenda.

2. 2013 Concerts In the Park Series. Mama Tried will perform Thursday at 7 p.m. at Cherry Hill Park. Randy Barrett and Dede Wyland bring their talents to Falls Church. WAMMIE award winner Barrett brings a new group, featuring bluegrass. If it's raining, no worries, just head to the Community Center, 223 Little Falls St.

3. Redskins Fan? The Washington Redskins begin training camp in Richmond this week. If you've always wanted to watch the team before the first game, now's your chance. Here's all the scoop on the training center fan schedule if you want to try to go see the team in Richmond. Go Redskins!

4. Musicians. The State Fair of Virginia is seeking local music acts to play during the 10-day fair, which begins Sept. 27. There is no charge to perform and performers are not paid. Artists would play at the Meadow Event Park’s Triple Crown Amphitheater. Send information to Micki Long at micki@threeoneoneproductions.com

5. Performance Art. Looking to do something artsy this week? Stop by the Capital Fringe Festival showcasing exploratory and contemporary performances. It’s going on now and runs through July 28. The festival is being held in a variety of venues in Washington, DC ranging from the Goethe Institute on 7th St., NW to Studio Theatre on 14th St., NW.
