As part of the Garden Club of Virginia’s Historic Garden Week, the Garden Club of Fairfax is sponsoring a combination walking and shuttle bus tour of Historic Vienna on Tuesday, April 29.

The tour features four homes and gardens (open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.), and Vienna’s two parks, Meadowlark Botanical Gardens (open until 7 p.m.) and Wolf Trap National Park (open until 5 p.m.), both of which are offering special activities throughout tour day.

Parking

Visitors should park at Meadowlark or Wolf Trap, where they can choose between starting their tour at one of the parks or catching a shuttle bus (running from 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.) to the homes for the walking portion of our tour.  The homes are located within a ¾ mile loop, containing two shuttle stops.

Restrooms are available at Wolf Trap National Park and at Meadowlark Botanical Gardens.

Smoking, backpacks, strollers, high heels, interior photography and use of cell phones inside the homes is not permitted. You should wear comfortable walking shoes and note that most of the private houses and gardens with stairs and uneven surfaces are not handicapped accessible. Strollers are not permitted on shuttles.

Visit Local Merchants

Many Church Street merchants are joining in the festivities by offering special promotions to those showing their tour tickets on tour day. Freeman House Museum: 131 Church Street, N.E. Historic Vienna, Inc. operates this old fashioned gift shop and museum, built in 1859, with period rooms and exhibits on the Civil War in Vienna. It will be open especially for tour day from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
