Weekend Metro Delays, Track Work for Aug. 16 - 18

There is no scheduled track work Aug. 16 - 18 on the Red, Yellow and Green lines.

Metro's weekend track work schedule will impact the Blue and Orange lines for the weekend of Aug. 16 - 18. Work begins at 10 p.m. Friday and continues through system closing Sunday.

There is no scheduled work this weekend on the Red, Green or Yellow lines.

ORANGE LINE

Trains every 24 minutes

Orange Line trains will operate as follows:

  • Between Vienna & New Carrollton - Every 24 minutes throughout the weekend. (Normal service is every 12-20 minutes.)

Work Performed:  Metro will replace track circuit modules between Foggy Bottom and Smithsonian stations.  This work is recommended by the National Transportation Safety Board to improve safety.

Travel Tip:  Before traveling, consult the trip planner at wmata.com to check the special schedule and reduce your wait time. (Trip Planner is updated to reflect weekend rebuilding schedules on Fridays; please check on Friday afternoon or later.)  You will experience the additional wait time on the platform.  Once your train departs the station, it is not expected to encounter additional delays en route.

BLUE LINE

Trains every 24 minutes

  • Between Franconia-Springfield & Largo Town Center - Every 24 minutes throughout the weekend.  (Normal service is every 12-20 minutes.)
