Cold Snap Hits Falls Church, Thanksgiving Weather Forecast

Saturday's near 50-degree highs is giving way to bitterly cold weather Sunday in Falls Church and the surrounding metro area, according to the National Weather Service.

The Capital Weather Gang even predicts the DC area could see a few snowflakes midday Sunday.

According to the National Weather Service, Falls Church will see a high on Sunday of just 35 degrees. With a northwest wind of 18 to 20 MPH, and gusts up to 37 MPH, we're in for some bone-chilling weather. The Capital Weather Gang predicts wind chills in the teens. Forecasters say those temperatures are about 20 degrees below average for November.

The weather will mainly stay this way through Thanksgiving week, with highs in the upper 30s and lower 40s.

Traveling? There is a 50 percent chance of rain on Tuesday and a 70 percent chance of rain on Wednesday, with forecasters keeping an eye on the storm system bringing the precip, which is to the south and west of the area. 

On Thanksgiving Day, it should be mostly sunny in Falls Church, with a high of 39 degrees, according to The Weather Channel.

The Weather Channel says there is a zero percent chance of rain Friday and Saturday and just a 10 percent chance on Sunday in Falls Church.
