Whiz Kid: Rachel Hassan

Each week, Falls Church Patch will seek suggestions from readers for individual kids, youth groups, teens, and even sports teams that wow us with their accomplishments. We want to hear about these amazing children and teens and select one each week as the Patch Whiz Kid. 

This week’s Whiz Kid is Rachel Hassan.

Hassan, 17, of Falls Church, is a student in Falls Church. This is the second year Hassan organized a jeans drive to collect new and gently used denim jeans for Teens for Jeans, an organization that donates jeans to homeless teens. Even though she is busy with her senior year, and a part time job, Hassan made time to reach out to those in need, and inspired many others in her school to donate jeans. She found out about it on the website www.dosomething.org. She doesn’t have a final count yet, but there were 2 boxes and 5 bags full of jeans, said Marybeth Connelly who nominated Hassan for our Whiz Kid.
