Police are looking for a man who sexually assaulted a 40-year-old woman Friday in the City of Falls Church.
At 4:23 p.m. that day, police said the man walked up behind the woman as she walked with a baby stroller near the intersection of South Maple Avenue and Gibson Street. Police said the man grabbed the woman’s buttocks and did not let go until she screamed.
Police are looking to see if this alleged suspect is connected to five or six similar incidents that happened in Fairfax County in September.
The man is described as being a short, skinny Hispanic male standing about 5 feet 6 inches tall. Police said the man has a short haircut and may now be clean-cut, having shaved off his beard.
He was allegedly wearing a grey long sleeved shirt, blue jeans and a red baseball cap during the Friday attack.
Police ask the community to be aware of your surroundings:
- Do not wear headphones or ear buds. It is very difficult to hear cars, sirens, or someone running behind you when you are preoccupied with music.
- When talking on a cell phone, be aware of what is going on around you.
- Walk in lighted areas.
- Keep your hands free, not overloaded.
- If you are being followed: cross the street, scream, run to an occupied residence or store, or flag down a car and call 911.
Anyone with information about the possible suspect should call Detective Richardson at 703-248-5238.
