Falls Church is blanketed in snow Thursday morning after a snowstorm that started Wednesday night that brought 12 inches of snow to the city, according to snow totals posted Thursday morning by the National Weather Service.

The NWS forecast for Thursday in Falls Church is for more snow, freezing rain, and sleet, becoming all snow after 3 pm. High near 33. North wind around 16 mph, with gusts as high as 29 mph. Chance of precipitation is 100 percent. Little or no ice accumulation expected. Total daytime snow and sleet accumulation of 2 to 4 inches possible.

Thursday night forecast is for snow, mainly before 2 am. Low around 26. West wind 13 to 18 mph, with gusts as high as 31 mph. Chance of precipitation is 100 percent. New snow accumulation of 1 to 2 inches possible.

Winter Storm Warning is in effect until 3 p.m. Thursday for Falls Church.

Winter Weather Advisory is in effect until 1 a.m. Friday for Falls Church.

Friday is expected to be sunny with a high of 39 degrees
