Langley High School Presents: The Crucible
Join us as we present Arthur Miller's classic story of lust, revenge, and deceit. Depicting events from the Salem witch trials of 1692 and 1693, Miller’s allegoric play draws parallels between the trials and, at the time of its publication, the modern-day practice of McCarthyism and the blacklisting of suspected communists. The story follows the lives of several citizens accused of witchcraft, most notably, Elizabeth Proctor. After being taken away to jail, her husband, John Proctor, passionately fights for her release and makes accusations about the community’s slow deterioration and onset of madness. However, a previous affair between John and one of the main accusers, Abigail Williams, complicates matters. Saxon Stage will present the drama in an intimate black box theater setting, placing the audience on stage with the actors.
