Falls Church Village Preservation and Improvement Society (VPIS) presents a program of readings of important documents related to the founding of our country, and also the Pledge of Allegiance. The documents are:
- Fairfax Resolves
- Virginia Declaration of Rights
- Declaration of Independence
- Bill of Rights
- Pledge of Allegiance
In this program, a local authority gives a short historical background and perspective on each document. After each document is discussed, audience participants take turns reading sections of the document until the whole document has been read aloud.
This year we are honored to have George Mason High School Social Studies teacher Eleanor Hawkesworth serve as our authority.
