Los Amigos Invisibles Rocked State Theatre Friday Night

The Latin Grammy award winning group from Venezuela had the crowd jumping and dancing all night.

It was hard to find anyone not dancing or jumping along to Los Amigos Invisibles spirited live performance at the State Theater on Friday night. Throughout the bar area, tables, and of course the dance floor in front of the stage, the latino heavy crowd swung and spun the night away as the Latin grammy award winning amigos from Venezuela.

“Colombianos, Mexicanos, Americanos, Americans, everyone together sing it!” shouted  lead singer Julio Briceno at one point during the performance.

Looking Carlos Santana-esque in a top hat and brightly colored yellow t-shirt, Briceno lead the crowd through Invisibles’ many original and cover songs. Band mate Armando Figueredo, looked like the quintessential latin rock superstar, shirtless with skin tight jeans hopping along to every tune on the keyboard.

Their unique ability to blend different genres of music from all corners of the world was evident throughout the night, especially their occasional borrowing of Michael Jackson and the Jackson 5’s familiar hit records “ABC” and “Smooth Criminal.”

Dance punk band Ra Ra Rasputin opened the night for Los Amigos with their super fast dance anthems, warming the crowd up for the passionate headliners.

“They do everything rock to R & B and more,” said Alex, a Falls Church resident attending the performance with friends. “The put that latin spin on rock and we love it, you have to dance when you come to see them.”

Briceno used every inch of the stage throughout the night, constantly engaging the crowd and grabbing various instruments, including what looked like a giant metallic coffee mug that he grated with a drum stick.

At one point he cooled the crowd off by instructing them to do “the wave”, the popular cheering gesture often seen at sporting events throughout the world.

The six man outfit has performed in over 60 countries worldwide and still performs with the same raw energy as if they were just starting out.
