St. Patrick's Day at Mad Fox Brewing Company

Celebrate St. Patrick’s Day Mad Fox style all day Saturday, March 17 as the Falls Church brew pub taps a pair of its own Irish style beers, offers some tasty menu specials and welcomes back a popular local band for another lively performance.  Mad Fox will be open regular Saturday hours from 11:00 am to Midnight.

Irish-American executive brewer & CEO Bill Madden will tap the St. James Irish Dry Stout, an original roasty black Irish brew, when doors open at 11:00 am, followed up at 2:00 pm with the first pouring of the toffee/caramel-flavored Rock Star Irish Red Ale, brewed in conjunction with Falls Church real estate agent Tori McKinney (www.torirocksrealestate.com).  McKinney, the green realtor who provides ‘rock star’ service, secured  the winning bid to name a Mad Fox brew in a live auction at a Falls Church Chamber of Commerce event.

The St. James is a Stout beer in the style of the great Irish brews, made with Pale, Black and Chocolate malts with a heavy use of Roasted Barley to dry out the palate and lend a very roasty finish.  This is a very malt accented brew lightly hopped with the English hop varietal First Gold.  The St. James is jet black in color and unfiltered.

The Irish-style red ale brewed with English pale and crystal malts has a touch of roasted barley to yield a brew that is deep garnet in color with toffee/caramel-like flavors and just a hint of roastiness in the finish.  This brew has just a hint of hops and is very much malt accented.

Executive Chef Russel Cunningham adds his creative touch to a host of St. Paddy’s specials that will be available Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Start off with either a Spicy BBQ Pork Wings Appetizer or Traditional Cobb Salad and select from a trio of traditional entrees -- Corned Beef & Cabbage, Shepherd’s Pie or Loch Duart Salmon with Roasted Parsnips.

After earning rave reviews at last year’s Oktoberfest, the UK pop-rock-punk inspired band, Shag, (www.shagtheband.com) fronted by British vocal powerhouse and guitarist Lawrence McKenna, returns to the Mad Fox stage.  They will perform from 4:00 to 8:00 pm.
