Falls Church Housing Market Thriving

Falls Church homes are some of the highest priced in the Washington metropolitan area.

If you’re looking for a home in Falls Church, expect to pay some of the highest median sales prices in the Washington metropolitan area, according to the Washington Business Journal.

In fact, according to the publication, that price can be around $570,000.

When you add the City of Falls Church’s proximity to Washington, DC and the top-notch school system (Falls Church City Public Schools), you can expect prices to go up, said Realtor Tori McKinney, owner of ROCK STAR Realty.

“Falls Church is so close to the nation’s capital,” McKinney said. “Location and schools is what drives prices.”

For the first time since 2005, active home listings fell below 8,000 in the RealEstate Business Intelligence report in the Washington, DC area, according to the WBJ. Residential listings are down 37.8 percent from a year ago.

McKinney said Falls Church hasn’t experienced a mass drop-off in number of homes on the market. Around the holidays, the housing market slows some because people are more focused on gift shopping than on buying or selling homes.
