Save the date! Dancing Mind Yoga, 929 W. Broad St., will hold a grand re-opening Saturday, Jan. 11 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. to show the public its new offerings: Cycling and CrossFit — the first studio of its kind between here and New York City.

The studio will unveil a new name, new studio and new exercise elements. Voted “Best Yoga Studio in Falls Church” over consecutive years, Dancing Mind Yoga is a community-centric studio that teaches students yoga through the Baron Baptiste yoga discipline method.

Opened in May 2007, owner and Brazil-native Paula Baake has taken an idea from conception to community need. The studio with more than 400 students is adding to its repertoire cycling and CrossFit as part of the mind and physical empowerment model. This also means that this studio will be the only studio of its kind between Virginia and New York making it a true leader and innovator in the industry.

“Dancing Mind’s new space is designed to inspire!" Baake said in a news release. "Our goal is to empower our students to 'believe they can' and do things they never thought were possible. That may be showing up for their first class, getting back in shape, or finishing a 100-mile bike ride."

"We are adding cycling and CrossFit to our services because these are two awesome compliments to yoga," she said. "Cycling helps build endurance, is community oriented, and fun. CrossFit fits our community model, is super empowering and athletic. Just like yoga, it is for everyone. Period."

"Yoga will continue to be our bread and butter, because we believe 'everybody should do yoga' — it makes us better human beings and opens our eyes to what is possible," she noted. "Moreover, we feel that our new home also reaffirms that “what is possible” is as limitless as what the mind can imagine.” Owner Paula Baake

Dancing Mind Yoga will simply be known as Dancing Mind as it now encompasses three exercise philosophies working together for the overall individual student.

The location is the same, however, the studios are now located on the first floor of the building that once housed a thrift store. The space is 8,000 square feet and features three yoga studios (main studio fits 82, studio 2 fits 28, studio 3 fits 15), new Cycle studio boasts 20 bikes, CrossFit Box holds 30 students, coaching rooms, women's and men's locker rooms with showers, the new Dancing Mind boutique, and a fireplace/lounge area. The new 2014 schedule will feature over 100 classes per week (110 to be exact).

Dancing Mind’s new space was designed to embody the owner's mission statement to “inspire and empower." The new space is also designed for fun and represents Baake’s passion for yoga, athletics and zest for leading the way in the fitness realm but also reaffirmed that “what is possible” is as limitless as what the mind can imagine.
