Falls Church Loehmann's Will Likely Close by March 1; Offering Deep Discounts

Rockville store closes Sunday.

Loehmann's, a national chain discount clothing store offering name-brand clothing, will likely close its doors at its Falls Church store by early March, according to employees at the Falls Church store off of Route 50.

The Loehmann's in Rockville will close its doors for good on Sunday, according to the Loehmann's Web site.

The store, which offers upscale clothing, purses and jewelry at discounted prices, is currently offering discounts of up to 60 percent on its clothing and selling its fixtures in the store.

If you have a Loehmann's gift card, you only have until Feb. 7 to use it. The store is not accepting any online orders.

The Falls Church store on Thursday saw about a dozen people browsing for bargains. Also up for grabs: The store fixtures, which are housed in an area adjacent to the store.

The store is one of 39 in 11 states that plans to close after the company declared bankruptcy, after being in business for 93 years.

No word yet on whether the Falls Church shopping center, owned by Federal Realty, will retain the name (Loehmann's Plaza) or what will take the place of the Loehmann's space, once it is gone.
