Get your appetites ready Falls Church, an opening date has been announced for a new restaurant coming to town.

Smashburger, located at Washington Street and Annandale Road in Falls Church, is set to open Thursday, Jan. 9. The company is also reportedly opening a location soon in Tyson's.

The location is next door to Meat in a Box; it is currently home to carpet and tile businesses that reportedly are not renewing their lease. Meat in a Box is located at 312 S. Washington St.

The hamburger franchise counts one current location in Northern Virginia, at 10160 Fairfax Blvd. in Fairfax if you want to try out the menu before the Falls Church location opens.

The Smashburger menu includes six different kinds of hamburgers (they use only fresh ground beef, never frozen), and six different kinds of grilled chicken sandwiches, including a "make your own" sandwich, featuring add-ons such as Applewood-smoked bacon and grilled mushrooms. Smashburger's beverages include beer.

Desserts will include Haagen-Dazs milkshakes and IBC Root Beer floats. See the entire menu here.

The company expects to open 50 to 60 new locations over the course of 2013, ending the year with approximately 250 restaurants systemwide. The company is focused on growing the Smashburger brand through both corporate and franchised locations, and is currently seeking expansion opportunities in Canada, the United Kingdom, South America, Latin America, Southeast Asia and the Middle East, as well as throughout the top 20 DMAs in the United States.

“The growth that we experienced in 2012 has continued into 2013 as we see a growing demand for a premium dining experience that emphasizes fresh ingredients and innovative recipes,” said Dave Prokupek, chairman and CEO of Smashburger, on the company Web site.

“At only six years old as a brand, it is an accomplishment for our entire organization to be recognized by Inc. for the third year in a row," he said. "Our focus remains on growing the Smashburger brand presence in new and existing markets worldwide and we look forward to another successful year of growth.”

Burgerdays.com notes that Smashburger will be locating quite close to the first-ever location of a similar enterprise: Elevation Burger, at 442 S. Washington St.
