Five Things You Need to Know Today: March 1

Happy March, Falls Church!

  1. Enjoy a lively evening of Irish music at the Cherry Hill Farmhouse with the band Isle of Treora. Jigs, reels, hornpipes and ballads will be played on fiddle, banjo, guitar, bouzouki and bodhran. All this takes place in the intimate setting of the farmhouse parlor. Tickets are $15.
  2. City residents who plan to vote in the Tuesday, March 6 Republican Presidential Primary are reminded to vote in the ward printed on their current Voter Registration Card. The ward changes the Council adopted should be in effect for the May 1 Municipal Election. Voters who need help determining their polling place should contact the City’s Office of Voter Registration and Elections.
  3. On this day in 1982, Russian spacecraft Venera 14 lands on Venus, sends back data.
  4. On this day in 2005, the Supreme Court rules the death penalty unconstitutional for people who committed crimes before age 18.
  5. If today is your birthday, you share it with teen star Justin Bieber (18-years-old) and actor/director Ron Howard (58-years-old). Happy birthday!
