One more day until the weekend hits

  1. Information about the City of Falls Church’s preparations for Hurricane Irene is posted on the home page of the City web site.  If the storm continues on track to bring heavy rains and winds to the city, the web site will be updated several times each day. Information will also be distributed info on the city’s facebook page, in the eFocus newsletter, on FCC-TV, through news releases to the media as well as on CFC Alert and 1680 AM radio. 
  2. The Washington Redskins Cheerleaders, the “First Ladies of Football”, premier their 2011-2012 calendar at the State Theatre at 8:30 p.m.
  3. On this day in 1967, Paraguay accepted its constitution.
  4. On this day in 1988, Iran and Iraq began talks to end their 8-year war.
  5. If today is your birthday, you share it with KISS founder Gene Simmons (62-years-old) and talk show host Regis Philbin (78-years-old). Happy birthday!
