  3. On this day in 1957, "American Bandstand," begins airing network TV (ABC).
  4. On this day in 1981, President Ronald Regan fired 11,500 striking air traffic controllers.
  5. If today is your birthday, you share it with former Georgetown Hoya Patrick Ewing (49-years-old) and the first man to walk on the moon Neil Armstrong (81-years-old). Happy birthday!
