Today marks the second anniversary of the earthquake in Haiti.

  1. The City of Falls Church Board of Zoning Appeals will hold a meeting at 7:30 p.m. in City Council chambers.
  2. Christmas trees are collected free of charge on Wednesdays in January and February. Place your Christmas tree at the curb after removing plastic bags, rope, and all decorations, including tinsel.
  3. On this day in 1995, murder trial against O.J. Simpson, begins in Los Angeles.
  4. On this day in 2010, A 7.0 magnitude earthquake struck Haiti, devastating its capital city, Port-au-Prince, and an estimated 150,000 were killed and buried later in mass graves.
  5. If today is your birthday, you share it with shock jock Howard Stern (58-years-old) and actress Kirstie Alley (61-years-old). Happy birthday!
