The weekend has arrived.

  1. The City is co-hosting a Town Hall meeting with its General Assembly representatives on Saturday, Jan. 14 at 10 a.m. in the Community Center. The public is invited to hear previews about the upcoming session from the City's newest State Senator Richard Saslaw and long-time Delegate James Scott.
  2. The Planning Committee for the 2012 Falls Church City Memorial Day Parade and Festival seeks nominations for the Grand Marshal. Suggestions should be submitted to Jenny Paxton in the Recreation and Parks Department at jpaxton@fallschurchva.gov or 703-248-5199 (TTY 711).
  3. On this day in 1994, Tonya Harding's bodyguard, Shawn Eric Eckardt and Derrick Brian Smith arrested and charged with conspiracy in attack of skater Nancy Kerrigan.
  4. On this day in 2009, after two years of trying to maintain order, Ethiopian military forces start pulling out of Somalia.
  5. If today is your birthday, you share it with actor Patrick Dempsey (46-years-old) and actress Julia Louis-Dreyfus (51-years-old). Happy birthday!
