  1. The Planning Committee for the 2012 Falls Church City Memorial Day Parade and Festival seeks nominations for the Grand Marshal. Suggestions should be submitted to Jenny Paxton in the Recreation and Parks Department at jpaxton@fallschurchva.gov or 703-248-5199 (TTY 711).
  2. The City of Falls Church Police Department is hosting an information session for city residents, business owners, and interested individuals to volunteer for the Crime Solvers Board. The session will be held Tuesday, Jan. 31, at 7:30 p.m., in the Dogwood Room in City Hall. 
  3. On this day in 1976, George H. W. Bush became the 11th director of the CIA.
  4. On this day in 2005, Iraq held Parliamentary elections for the first time since 1958.
  5. If today is your birthday, you share it with singer Phil Collins (61-years-old) and the 32nd President of the United States Franklin D. Roosevelt (130-years-old). Happy birthday!
