Five Things You Need to Know Today: March 13

This is the week to help local schools.

  1. Join the City Manager for a Town Hall Meeting on Saturday, March 17, starting at 10 a.m. in the Community Center (223 Little Falls St.). The proposed Fiscal Year 2013 Budget will be presented with a Q&A opportunity for attendees. Can't make the Town Hall? Email budget comments and suggestions to budget@fallschurchva.gov.
  2. On March 14th all guests who visit the new Bruegger’s Bakery-Café located in Falls Church at 7393 Lee Highway, will receive a free bagel with cream cheese. They will also have the opportunity to purchase a Bottomless Mug trial card(s) for $5.00 each - good for unlimited coffee, tea or fountain drinks through the end of March – to the first 200 interested guests. All proceeds from the card will benefit the Mary Ellen Henderson Middle School teacher grants program.
  3. March 16th is the final date for mulch orders if you wish your mulch to be delivered to your home by the Boy Scouts the weekend of March 23rd-24th 2012. Falls Church Troop 895 is in the final week of its 13th Annual Fundraising Mulch sale. Bags containing 3 cubic feet of double processed hardwood mulch are offered for sale at a price of $4.85 delivered!  Delivery area includes Falls Church City and adjacent areas of Fairfax County and Arlington. Order forms are still available at www.troop895.us, from your local Troop 895 Boy Scout or contact mulch@troop895.us.
  4. Street sweeping begins the week of March 12; follow the link for the complete schedule. Street sweeping reduces the volume of pollutants entering local streams through the City's 900 storm drain openings. Questions? Call the Solid Waste Programs Coordinator at 703-248-5456.
  5. If today is your birthday, you share it with former baseball star Will Clark (48-years-old) and actor William H. Macy (62-years-old). Happy birthday!
