Five Things You Need to Know Today: Nov. 10

The weekend is almost here.

  1. A special Veterans Day Ceremony will be held at the Falls Church City Veterans Memorial in front of the Community Center at 11 a.m. Friday. Local veterans Maj. General Richard Sherlock and Air Force Brigadier General Lyn Sherlock will offer remarks. A remembrance for MIAs and a wreath presentation and prayer for departed veterans will also be part of the ceremony.
  2. Library Story Hour for kids ages 2 to 5-years-old at the Mary Riley Styles Library at 10:30 a.m.
  3. On this day in 1954, the Iwo Jima Memorial was dedicated in Arlington.
  4. On this day in 1989, Germans began demolishing the Berlin Wall.
  5. If today is your birthday, you share it with actor-comedian Tracy Morgan (43-years-old) and the late actress Brittany Murphy (34-years-old). Happy birthday!
