Five Things You Need to Know Today: Nov. 29

Make sure you see what's going on today.

  1. Residents of single-family homes in the City received a mailed survey about stormwater management. Survey responses will help the Department of Public Works gain a better understanding of the drainage issues facing City residents. Respondents will need the Real Property Code provided in the mailing to complete the paper and Survey Monkey versions of the survey.
  2. Don't miss Breakfast with Santa at the Annual Holiday Craft Show this Saturday from 9 a.m. to 10:30 a.m., at the Falls Church Community Center. Santa and Mrs. Claus will pose for photos (be sure to bring a camera) and listen to each child's Christmas wish list. There will be finger foods for the kids, and juice and water for all. The cost is $5 per person (infants are free); pre-registration is recommended to ensure space! Activity code 220148-A. Register online, by phone (703-248-5027), or in person at the Community Center.
  3. On this day in 1964, the Roman Catholic Church in U.S. replaces Latin with English.
  4. On this day in 1975, President Gerald Ford requires states to provide free education for handicapped.
  5. If today is your birthday, you share it with funny man Howie Mandel (56-years-old) and actress Kim Delaney (50-years-old). Happy birthday!
