  1. As part of a community program to improve traffic safety, the City of Falls Church issues citations to motorists who are videotaped running red lights at two intersections. Intersection Safety Cameras are installed at the eastbound and westbound approaches at Broad St. and Cherry St. as well as Broad St. and Annandale Rd. 
  2. Library Story Hour for kids ages 18 to 36-months-old at the Mary Riley Styles Library at 10:30 a.m.
  3. On this day in 1976, Supreme Court lifts 1972 ban on death penalty for convicted murderers.
  4. On this day in 1984, the U.S. government closes down due to budget problems.
  5. If today is your birthday, you share it with actress Susan Sarandon (65-years-old) and actress Alicia Silverstone (35-years-old). Happy birthday!
