Five Things You Need to Know Today: Oct. 5

Personal property taxes are due today.

  1. Today is the deadline to pay personal property tax bills in the City of Falls Church. If payments are not received or post marked by Oct. 5, 2011, a penalty of $10 or 10% (whichever is greater) will be added to your bill.
  2. The City of Falls Church Department of Recreation and Parks calls "last chance" on the Fishing adventure for children ages 8 and up! Enjoy this Sunday, Oct. 9, from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m., with Virginia Fishing Adventures Fishing Camp! Participants in this private farm pond fishing trip will fish for bass and sunfish.
  3. On this day in 1962, the Beatles release their first record "Love Me Do".
  4. On this day in 1988, Brazil adopted its constitution.
  5. If today is your birthday, you share it with the 21st President of the United States Chester A. Arthur (182-years-old) and hockey star Mario Lemieux (46-years-old). Happy birthday!
