Get Out: Patch's Pick-and-Choose Weekend Planner

Need a few ideas to get your weekend going? Look no further.

At Patch, we're thinking spring these days.

The warmer weather has us throwing open windows, beckoning us outside - conjuring up (very distant) memories of eating on a porch, cold cocktails and flip-flops.

We're not quite there yet, though. This weekend's temperatures are supposed to hover in the 60s with a possibility of rain on Saturday. Boo.

In the name of optimism, though, we're listing a few activity options to get you outdoors and a few indoor ones in case, well, those dang April showers...you how the saying goes.

1.

Find out what's happening in Falls Churchwith free, real-time updates from Patch.

Where/When: 6310 Georgetown Pike, McLean. Sunday, 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.

Why Go: You've jumped on the local food movement bandwagon. You shop at the farmers' markets. You try to find out where your beef comes from. Haven't made the leap to churning your own butter and cheese yet, though, have you? Well, here's your chance. The farm wife will be making soft cheese and churn butter, and you'll  "gain a new appreciation for these foods," and maybe some stronger arm muscles, too.

Pricing: Free to attend.

2.

Where/When: , 131 Church St. NE, Vienna. Saturday, 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.

Why Go: The Easter Bunny is coming early to Vienna, this year. You can let your children experience this old-fashioned Easter Egg Roll (without fighting the crowd that will turn out to the White House's version in a few weeks).

Pricing: Free to attend.

3.

Where/When: , 4400 University Dr, Fairfax. Performances run daily through April 24. Showtimes vary.

Why Go: Everyone has fond memories of going to the circus as a child - and children of all ages will surely "oooh" and "ahhh" during "The Greatest Show on Earth." Not to mention, this would be a perfect "Let's get out of the house even though it's raining" activity.

Pricing: Tickets range in price from $7 (a steal!) to $110.

4.

Where/When: Pinkberry, 11942 Grand Commons Ave., Fairfax Corner. Open daily.

Why Go: Y'all don't know how good you have it out there in Fairfax County. For example, did you know that you have the only Pinkberry store in a several-hundred mile radius? If you haven't tried it yet, just go. It's frozen yogurt. It's tangy. It's healthy (believe it or not). It's life-changing. Summer in your mouth - enough said.

Pricing: Menu prices vary.

5.

Where/When: Frady Park, 305 E. Broad St., Falls Church. Saturday, 3 p.m.

Why Go: Welcome warmer weather by heading out to the Falls Church Arbor Day Celebration - a local tradition going strong for 119 year. According to the event listing, "the program will include a recollection of the 1892 Arbor Day and a performance by the award-winning Fairfax Jubil-Aires, an a capella male chorus."

Pricing: Free to attend.
