Spring is Here…Again

After a week of temperatures in the mid to high 90s, cooler weather has returned.

Temperatures raced into the mid to high 90s last week making it feel like the “dog days of summer,” instead of spring. Monday, spring-like weather has returned to northern Virginia, adding a cool breeze and relief from last week’s heat and humidity. Monday's temperatures will hover around the mid to high 70s.

“The next couple of days should be cooler,” National Weather Service meteorologist Matthew Kramar said. “But temperatures should go back up Thursday.”

Kramar said average temperatures for northern Virginia this time of year hover in the low 80s. Through Thursday, temperatures will be between high 70s and low 80s. Kramar said rain and humidity should return Thursday and go through the weekend. He said the weather shouldn’t get back to where it was last week as humidity is in the forecast later this week.

The cooler weather comes from a mixture of cold front that came in Sunday and a Canadian high pressure. Kramar said the spring-like weather could be interrupted Tuesday.

“There is a slight chance of a shower Tuesday, but not that high of a chance,” he said.
