Upcoming National Plum Pudding Day February 12

Here's a holiday for those of you who love to invite people over - just because.  It's National Plum Pudding Day. I am here to give you some tidbits of information and give you the courage to make this pudding and have a party!
1.  Traditional plum pudding did not contain any plums.  Raisins or other dried fruits were used in this warm boiled or steamed pudding. Modern recipes also contain nutmeg, cinnamon, dates, and even apples.
2.  At one point, plum pudding was outlawed because it was "sinfully rich".
3.  Abraham Lincoln loved plum pudding (this may be the reason this holiday is celebrated in conjunction with Abraham Lincoln's birthday).
There you have it. I have never made this dish so I apologize for not having a picture to show. There are several versions of the recipe on the web (some with brandy - be careful!). If you make plum pudding, please share and let us know how it tastes. Here is a recipe, compliments of  The Food Network  http://www.foodnetwork.com/recipes/plum-pudding-recipe.html#!
