The Relay for Life of Falls Church for 2013, a major annual community event, which will take place on June 1, 2013 at George Mason High School here in Falls Church, is now registering team participants and committee volunteers.
While the main objective of the American Cancer Society’s Relay for Life is to raise money for cancer research and cancer patients, it also celebrates the lives of cancer survivors and remembers those who lost their lives to cancer. The event includes high school students, college age kids, and adults of all ages. For some people this event is very personal; maybe they have lost a loved one to cancer and wish to honor them, or maybe they are a cancer survivor and are there to celebrate. There are others who just want to raise money to fight this disease.
Teams that participate in Relay are groups from schools, businesses, churches, non-profits, law firms, sports teams, families and friends. Registration is now open on our website at http://main.acsevents.org/site/TR?pg=entry&fr_id=53238 .
The volunteer opportunities are many; from logistics to sponsorships to food service to registration, Relay needs your help. If you would like to volunteer, or if you have any questions, please contact Melissa Morse at firstname.lastname@example.org or 703.992.9435. Or come to the next meeting of the committee which is Monday, June 28th, at 7:00 pm at the Falls Church Community Center.
