Literary & Musical Event with Danny Ellis

One

More Page Books hosts an event with Irish musician and author Danny Ellis at the Arlington County
Library Central, located at 1015 N. Quincy Street, Arlington, VA 22201. Mr. Ellis will discuss and sign his memoir
and CD, as well as entertain guests with his original music – a seamless blend
of Celtic heritage with rock, pop, country and blues.

Danny

Ellis’ newly released memoir, “The Boy at the Gate,” and award-winning album,
“800 Voices,” beautifully and poignantly chronicle his early life in Ireland.
Born into the destitute slums of Dublin in 1947, Danny’s family fell apart when
he was eight years old and his father left to find work in America. Abandoned
by their mother, Danny’s sisters and infant twin brothers were placed in
separate orphanages and Danny was interred in Artane Industrial School, the
most notoriously brutal of Irish orphanages. There he learned trombone in the
school band which would prove to be his saving grace throughout his traumatic
upbringing—and launch him on a life-long career in music.

Danny Ellis’ powerful storytelling is a

testament to the healing powers of music.
