Alleged Police Impersonator Caught in Falls Church

Police said Rudolph Curtis preyed on the elderly in three alleged robberies.

An Arlington man was charged with robbery, malicious wounding and impersonating a police officer Wednesday following three alleged incidents in Falls Church.

Rudolph Victor Curtis, 59, allegedly assaulted and robbed a 93-year-old man Wednesday morning in the 5700 block of Leesburg Pike. Police said Curtis allegedly identified himself as a police officer to the elderly man and displayed some credentials. According to a release, Curtis allegedly demanded the man’s license and then hit the man several times before taking the wallet and speeding away in a Ford Mustang.

The man was treated at the scene for non-life threatening injuries, police said.

Two Bailey’s Crossroads robberies in June were connected to Curtis. Police said Curtis allegedly robbed an 85-year-old man on June 5 and an 81-year-old-man on June 24.

Police said Curtis allegedly told the other two elderly men he was a police officer and stole money from their wallets when he asked to see their license.

Police said the other two men were not injured.
