Bailey's Crossroads Apartment Building Catches Fire

No injuries were reported.

Update, 8:50 p.m.

Dan Schmidt, a spokesman for the Fairfax County Fire Department, said firefighters were able to extinguish this "fairly small" apartment fire within about 10 minutes on scene. The fire originated in a second floor unit of the three-story apartment building, at 3409 Carlin Springs Rd.

Light smoke spread to the building's stairwell and to nearby units, but the fire was contained to only one apartment.

No injuries were reported. Schmidt said one person was evaluated by emergency responders on scene, but was not transported to the hospital for further treatment.

The cause of the fire is unknown at this time.

A multi-unit apartment building at 3409 Carlin Springs Rd. in Bailey's Crossroads has caught fire.

Gerry Strider, president of the Bailey's Crossroads Volunteer Fire Department, confirmed that the building was on fire on Saturday evening, but had no other details about the situation.
