Bomb Threat in Merrifield Lands Herndon Man in Jail

Fairfax County Police said man called bomb threat in by telephone.

Fairfax County Police charged a Herndon man with making a bomb threat following an alleged shoplifting in Merrifield.

The man is being held at the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center with no bond.

Police were called to the 2900 block of District Avenue around 9 p.m. Sunday for a report of two men shoplifting. One of the men, a 29-year-old Herndon man, was detained by security and charged with grand larceny.

According to a press release, the second alleged suspect, a 30-year-old Herndon man, was able to make it outside and allegedly called in a bomb threat to the business.

There were no other details about the incident.
