Falls Church, Arlington Police to Conduct Training Exercise in Falls Church

Police exercise will use realistic-looking training weapons.

If you see what looks like police action next Tuesday, it is like a joint police exercise being conducted by the City of Falls Church Emergency Services Team and the Arlington County Police Department’s (ACPD) Tactical Training Unit.

The two are teaming up to conduct a joint training exercise at 1203 Lincoln Ave. in Falls Church on Tuesday from approximately 7 a.m. to 3 p.m., according to a news release.

There will be no live ammunition used in this exercise. However, realistic looking training weapons that shoot paint projectiles will be utilized. Noise flash diversionary devices may also be utilized during this exercise. These devices will make some noise but do not dispense any munitions.

Some police vehicles will be parked in the area.  These vehicles will not block any driveways or the right of way on the road. Should a vehicle need to be relocated because it is blocking your access, please contact one of the on-scene control officers for assistance.  The control officers can be identified by the bright yellow traffic control vests they will be wearing.

The police departments point out that "realistic training is critical to enhancing our capabilities to serve and protect you to the best of our ability.  Your patience and understanding is greatly appreciated."
