Falls Church Man Charged With Setting Fires at His Home

Fire officials said people were inside when fires were set

Michael A. Guenther has been charged with setting two fires at his home between April 16 and May 1.

Guenther, 51, of the 5800 block of Glen Forest Drive in Falls Church, is charged with two counts of fire capable of spreading and one count of attempted burning of an occupied building. He was charged May 4, Fairfax County Fire and Rescue officials said Monday.

Guenther is being held without bond at the Fairfax County Adults Detention Center, fire officials said.

No damage was done to the property and fire investigators are not sure why Guenther wanted to burn his home.

According to fire officials, Guenther tried setting fires outside his home and in the crawl space of the home.
